Glen Macdonald at Carnoustie Links having won the Junior Golf Scotland, 18 hole series
Congratulations to Braehead junior Glen Macdonald who was the winner of the 18 hole event series, run by Junior Golf Scotland. Glen played in 4 events on the tour with the final round played over Carnoustie’s Buddon course. He showed consistency over the 4 events on the tour to become the eventual winner. He has now been invited to a Champion of Champions Junior Invitational in Ireland 2021. Well done Glen, great to see a Braehead junior winning at such a competitive event.
Jennifer Ure proudly pointing to her place at the top of the leader board
Congratulations to Jennifer Ure on becoming only the second lady to win a place in the International Finals of the Golf in Scotland Series Tournament. Jennifer won her heat at Trump International Golf Links and will now join the other winners for the “All inclusive” finals to be held Turkey in 2021.
Peter Cunningham, Davy Dick & Fraser McNeil
Members and staff were present on Wednesday 19th August as club secretary Davy Dick presented two special awards.
Peter Cunningham was presented with a Honorary Life membership having been an active member of the club for 46 years. Peter was accompanied by his daughter Linda, both of whom enjoyed catching up with his many friends over an al-fresco lunch. Malky Spiers presented Peter with an additional gift on behalf of the seniors golf section.
Davy also presented with a long service award and gift to Fraser McNeil to recognise his 40 year service to Braehead Golf Club green keeping staff. Fraser came to Braehead as a young man in 1980, and enjoyed it so much he never felt the need to leave. Fraser thanked everyone for they’re kindness and hoped to continue for a few more years.
